Italian Meal Roll

  • 3/4 C. onion, minced
  • 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 lb. pork sausage
  • 1 clove garlic, minced or 1/8 tsp. powder
  • 1 T. parsley flakes
  • 1/2 tsp. oregano
  • 1/2 tsp. basil
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 6 oz. can tomato paste
  • 1 C. small curd cottage cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 C. parmesan cheese
  • 1 C. mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 2 cans Crescent Roll dough
     
 
Brown onion, ground beef, pork sausage and garlic. Drain and return to pan. Add parsley flakes, oregano, basil, salt, and tomato paste. In a separate bowl mix cottage cheese, egg and parmesan cheese. On a greased cookie sheet, spread out both cans of Crescent Roll dough to make a large rectangle. Spread 1/2 of meat mixture on dough and top with cheese mixture and then cover cheese with remaining meat mixture. Cover all with mozzarella cheese. Fold long edges of crust together forming a roll. Bake in 425° oven for 30 to 35 minutes.
