Bread Pudding With Raisins

  • 1/2 lb. of day old bread, cut into cubes
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 stick of butter
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. raisins
     
 
Preheat oven at 350°. Place bread cubes in a casserole pan. Melt butter and pour over cubes and stir to distribute butter. Toast in oven until cubes are light brown. Mix sugar, egg, salt, nutmeg, vanilla and milk together. Pour over toasted bread cubes and let stand 45 minutes before baking. Stir in the raisins just before baking for 1 hour. Serve topped with lemon sauce.
