"'umm Ali"-egyptian Bread Pudding
|
- 6-8 1 inch slices of toasted French bread torn into pieces
- 1/2 cup toasted and crushed hazelnuts
- 1/4-1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup shredded coconut
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup sugar(or more-to taste)
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3 tsp. butter cut into small pieces

| Butter an 8"x8" baking dish generously with butter. Place all of the dry ingredients in layers in the baking dish. Mix the milk, heavy cream, sugar and vanilla together until dissolved. Pour the milk mixture over the layers. Place the butter pieces on top of the pudding and bake in a preheated oven at 325-350 degrees for 40minutes. It should be golden brown on top when done.serve warm or cold with a bit of whipped cream on the side. |
