Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. shortening or soft butter
  • 6 T. sugar
  • 6 T. brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. water
  • 1 egg
  • 1 c. uncooked oatmeal
  • 1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
     
 
Heat oven to 375°. Sift together flour, soda and salt and set aside. Blend butter, sugars, vanilla and water. Beat in egg. Add flour mixture and mix well. Stir in oats and chocolate chips. Drop by rounded half-teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets. Bake 10 to 12 minutes.
