Chocolate Frosting

  • 1/4 c. shortening, butter, or margarine, melted
  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • 1/4 t. salt
  • 1/3 c. milk
  • 1 1/2 t. vanilla
  • 3 1/2 c. powdered sugar
     
 
Combine melted shortening, cocoa and salt; add milk and vanilla. Mix in sugar gradually, beating constantly. Mix until smooth and creamy. Add more sugar to thicken, or milk to thin, to reach desired spreading consistency.
