Alabama Biscuits

  • 2 c. warm water
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 2 T. sugar
  • 1 T. shortening, melted
  • 1 T. baking powder
  • flour, enough to make dough
Rinse bowl in hot water. Into large bowl, put warm water and yeast. Stir until yeast is dissolved. Add shortening and sugar. Mix in baking powder and flour, enough to make dough. Roll out on floured board. Cut with biscuit cutter, place in greased pan, grease tops of biscuits. Cover with wax paper and clean towel. Set in warm place to rise about 1 hour. Bake in 425 oven, until brown
