Mix sugar, flour, shortening and spices together. Reserve 1/2 c. of this mixture for the topping. Add remaining ingredients, except blueberries and coconut and beat well. Stir in the cup of blueberries. Spread mixture in a 7 x 9 inch greased and floured pan. Mix coconut in the reserved dry mixture and spread over top of batter. Bake in a 350° oven for approximately 40 minutes.
